Prerequisites:
- The Tigo EI app is installed on your mobile device (phone or tablet)
- The 'Configure Layout' stage has been completed (a green checkmark will show on the System Settings page, as shown below). If it does not, then refer to Create and Edit System - Using EI App.
- You must have the local area network password if connecting to Wi-Fi.
Overview
This part of the commissioning process requires identifying the CCA (Cloud Connect Advanced) and connecting it to a network.
IMPORTANT! A strong internet connection is required for commissioning.
The installer must be within 15 feet of the CCA.
Important: The CCA broadcasts its address signal for 2 hours. If the CCA is turned on but the commissioning process does not start for 2 hours, restart the CCA by turning off the power supply, waiting 60 seconds and restarting. Once it powers back on, it will transmit its temporary address.
Connect the Tigo EI App to CCA
The first step in configuring communication is to connect the device to the CCA.
Activate Bluetooth within your device's settings (iOS-Control Center or Android-Connections).
- Sign in to the Tigo EI App and select system on the Installations page
- Choose Edit (bottom)
- Choose Configure Communication
-
Enable Local Permissions (if you see the warning)
- Select the Tigo CCA that appears under the BLUETOOTH list
• if CCA is missing, pull down on the menu to refresh
• If CCA still missing, restart the CCA and try in 2 mins
If connected, the CCA address will show in a purple banner (at the top), and you will be on the CCA Configuration page.
If you are having trouble connecting to the local area network, confirm the Password with the system owner.

Connect to the Local Area Network
The next step is to find and connect to the local area network. This can be any local WiFi connection (including: Routers, MiFi, and smartphone Hot Spots), or a simple Ethernet cable connection.
Important! The CCA requires a 2.4GHz connection (not compatible with 5GHz signal).
Connect CCA to a network via WiFi:
- Select Internet Settings on CCA Configuration page
-
Swipe Down to scan for networks
- App scans for networks
- Select local area network
- Enter network Password and tap CONNECT
- If a checkmark appears next to the network, tap DONE
Connect CCA to a network via Ethernet (cable):
Connecting via Ethernet cable does not require a Network Setup (passwords, etc). The CCA is pre-configured for Automatic IP assignment using DHCP.
- Select ETHERNET (top right of Network Configuration page)
- Checkmark Automatic (Using DHCP)
Configuring a Static IP:
- Select ETHERNET (top right), and choose Manual
- Enter in Manual (Static) IP information and tap JOIN
- Select DONE
Important: Once you are successfully connected via WiFi, the phone/tablet's connection with the local WiFi or data network may disconnect, and you may see a screen like this.
When the System Discovery has been completed, you may return to the device's network settings to reconnect the App to the CCA and perform any additional work.
3. Confirm Network
To confirm the CCA's connection to the network is good, you may run a test of the network. This offers valuable data about the network connection (strength, speed, IP address, etc.).
- Return to Network Configuration page and tap Internet Settings
- Choose the correct CCA
- Select the 3-Dot button (top right corner)
- Choose Network Test from the pop-up (bottom)
- When Finished, the prompt will say PASS or FAILED.
(Click to view details for more information)
- Tap CLOSE
Note: The Ethernet warning is specific to the type of network you have connected to.
- If you have an Ethernet/wired connection, the Ethernet cable plugged will show OK.
- If you have a WiFi connection, Ethernet cable unplugged will show WARNING.
It is perfectly fine for the test to show a warning, if you are connected to the WiFi (instead of Ethernet). Please disregard, if this is the case.
Start Discovery of System
Now that the CCA is connected to the network, the next step is to initiate system discovery.
From the Configure Communications page:
- Select Discovery, to proceed to the Discovery page
-
Tap START to initiate Discovery
-
Discovery Started notification appears. Tap OKAY to exit.
Discovery will continue to run in the background. You may disconnect from the CCA (or walk away) and reconnect your device later to check on its progress.
- When complete, Configure Communication will show Checkmark√ on the My System screen:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING DISCOVERY
The Discovery process begins by downloading and installing the system's configuration data. It usually takes under 15 minutes to complete.
Once the data is downloaded to the CCA, a unit-by-unit verification process is automatically started (finding and confirming each MLPE by serial number). This can take as little as 20-30 minutes before the system is visible online. However, it can experience delays if:
- The System is very large (ie., commercial system).
- There is a distance or barrier issue between the TS4s and the TAP.
- The Internet signal has been compromised or is too slow to complete the Discovery process.
Please Contact Support if the system does not show online after 2 days. A Tigo Engineer will review the system and inform you if the TAP quantity or placement has been successful.
