The instructions for transferring ownership of a Tigo account depends on if the original system owner is participating in the transfer or not.
Original System Owner Participating in Transfer
Transferring ownership of a Tigo account is simple if the original system owner is participating in the transfer. The original system owner signs into their account and changes their email address to the new owner's email:
- Sign into your Tigo Account
- Click on your name (upper right)
- Select Profile
- Type in new Owner's Email Address
- Choose Update
This generates an automated password change request that is sent to the new owner's email address. Once the link is clicked, the new owner can change their password and assume the full ownership of the account.
Original System Owner NOT Participating in Transfer
If the original owner is not participating in the transfer or cannot be contacted, the process is more strict due to Tigo account security protocol.
In order to grant system access and/or make any changes to an existing account, you must contact the Tigo Support Team with your Ownership Transfer Request. The Support agents will require one of these as proof of ownership from the new system owner:
- Power bill showing System Address & New System Owner's name
- Bill of Sale for property or for system
- A photograph of the Data Logger's MAC ID or Serial Number
The requested information must be included in your support ticket, along with the email address for the new system owner. If the new system owner has not created their account yet, please have them go to https://ei.tigoenergy.com/register to create their new user account before they reply with the information requested (above).
