It depends on the TS4 models.
The TS4-A-F and TS4-A-2F products (shown below) must not be mixed with TS4-A-O or TS4-A-S products in the same Rapid Shutdown system.
These products use different communication methods to receive the keep-alive signal that maintains normal operation.
| TS4 Product | Rapid Shutdown Communication |
| TS4-A-F / TS4-A-2F | PLC from an RSS Transmitter |
| TS4-A-O / TS4-A-S | Wireless from the CCA and TAP |
Because these products use different Rapid Shutdown communication methods, they must not be intermixed within the same Rapid Shutdown system.
If you are using newer TS4-A (725W) or TS4-X products
All TS4-A (725W) and TS4-X products operate differently from the legacy TS4-A products listed above.
These newer products support Multi-Factor Rapid Shutdown (MFRS). MFRS allows the TS4 to recognize a Rapid Shutdown keep-alive signal from either:
- an RSS Transmitter using PLC
- a CCA and TAP using wireless communication
This difference is important when more than one keep-alive signal is present.
If an MFRS-capable TS4 is receiving both PLC and wireless keep-alive signals, both signals must be removed before the TS4 enters Rapid Shutdown.
For example, turning off the CCA will not initiate Rapid Shutdown if an RSS Transmitter is still providing a PLC keep-alive signal.
See Field Notice: Rapid Shutdown Verification – Why the Array May Remain Energized After Turning Off the CCA for more information.
Important: MFRS applies to supported TS4-A 725W and TS4-X products. It does not change the Rapid Shutdown communication requirements of TS4-A-F, TS4-A-2F, TS4-A-O, or TS4-A-S products.
Check the TS4 model before installation
Always verify the exact TS4 model and power rating when designing, modifying, or servicing a system.
Do not assume that the Rapid Shutdown communication requirements for previous TS4-A products also apply to TS4-A 725W or TS4-X products.
