Tigo optimizers do not require a separate electrical ground wire because their internal design is "floating," meaning the electronics operate relative to the solar module, not to earth ground.
The TS4 is considered solidly grounded in its design. |
The only exposed metal part (the mounting bracket) is considered sufficiently grounded because it is attached to the module frame. This makes a mechanic bond to the ground; no additional grounding is needed.
If rail mounting the TS4, the clips are removed, and the mounting brackets are made of the same material as the chassis of the TS4. Therefore, a separate grounding wire is still not needed.
|
This feature allows for a faster installation since, unlike competing MLPE, the array equipment grounding wire does not need to connect to each TS4.
All TS4 models can work with inverters and modules regardless of their grounding method: positive, negative, and/or bipolar inverters.
