Online Site Configuration
Small systems can be set up and commissioned using the Tigo SMART Mobile App. For systems of 50 modules or more, we recommend doing online configuration using the Tigo SMART Website on a desktop PC. This will allow you to take advantage of the larger screen. See the video below for a basic walk-through of the Tigo SMART Website features for installers, including site set up and configuration.
Get Organized
If you are configuring a large system, it may help to make a spreadsheet showing the string assignments for each inverter, CCA and TAP. See the attachment to this article, "String_CCA_mapping.xlsx".
Site configuration requires having the bar codes of the Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA), and each of the TS4 units. Each Tigo TS4 unit will have two bar code stickers. See below. The one on the left is on the permanent product sticker. The one on the right is intended to be removed and placed on your paper system map.
Create a Paper System Map
- This step is normally done when the physical installation is complete. This way all modules and TS4s should be in their final position.
- Make a paper map - big enough to accommodate all of the bar code stickers without overlapping. See below for an example.
To enter the barcodes into the software, it is highly recommended to use a barcode scanner. A barcode scanner makes this work quick and typo-free! Any off the shelf barcode scanner will work. Many USB bar code scanners are available. They all function in a similar way and can be purchased for as little as $20 - $30 online. These USB bar code scanners act like a computer keyboard. They are very simple to operate.
Start with logging in to your Tigo account by going to https://smart.tigoenergy.com or register for a new account if you don't have one.
Once an account has been created, click on '+New System' at the upper right corner. See the video above, which will walk you through the basics of setting up a site in the Tigo SMART Website.
After you have created your layout and paper barcode map representing the physical arrangement of all the modules in your system, you can use the “Uploader” function to download a spreadsheet template customized for your system.
Now choose your spreadsheet download format. See below. Then click on “Download”.
Entering Serial Numbers Using a Bar Code Scanner
What you will need to complete this step:
- Paper map showing bar codes for all modules
- Spreadsheet downloaded from the Tigo portal (see below)
- Bar code scanner
The spreadsheet you downloaded earlier should look like the following.
You can now use a bar code scanner to scan the paper map you made earlier. Plug the scanner into your computer. Click on the spreadsheet cell where you want to start scanning. Aim the scanner at the bar code and pull the trigger. Check that the bar code was entered correctly. The cursor will advance to the next cell automatically, as if you had pressed “Enter” on your keyboard. You can now scan the next unit in sequence.
Once the scanning is done, you can go back into the Tigo portal and upload the completed spreadsheet. See below.
When all barcodes are uploaded, commission your system using the Tigo Smart App. See also the article, "Commissioning a System with the Tigo SMART website".
