It's good to know how much power is required at every stage in the design. This includes the data relay and management portion of the system.
Data Logger (CCA) Power Consumption
A Tigo CCA requires a 24V / 1A PS so the CCA will have sufficient voltage to share with all the TAPs in the design (up to 7 maximum).
For more information, see: Datasheet - Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA)
TAP Power Consumption
The CCA supplies the TAP's power. Up to two TAPs can use a 12V power supply to the CCA, but a 24V ensures proper operation regardless of the application.
For more information, see: Datasheet - Tigo Access Point (TAP)
Maximum Power Consumption
According to Tigo's Datasheets:
This means that the total consumption equation for a 7x TAP system will be:
- Minimum: 3 Watts + (7 x 0.5W per TAP) = 3 W + 3.5W = 6.5 Watts.
- Maximum: 10 Watts + (7 x 1W per TAP) = 10 W + 7W = 17 Watts
Due to this dynamic range, Tigo's CCA uses a selectable power supply that yields an output of 12-24 Volt, at 1A. For a full review of Power Supply specs, see: AC Adapter / Power Supply Overview
Connecting power to the CCA
To comply with rapid shutdown directives (NEC 690.12), the CCA should be on the same circuit as the PV inverter's AC supply. When the AC disconnect is activated to initiate rapid shutdown, both the CCA and PV inverter will lose AC power. The CCA will stop sending the keep-alive PLC signal, and the TS4s will enter rapid shutdown mode.
