Full Deployment and System Discovery is required for all TS4-A-O systems, even though Optimization is functional with (or without) the Discovery process.
Blind Deployment is not recommended or supported by Tigo.
Reasons for Discovery and Network Connectivity
Installation - The Tigo EI Portal / App offers the user a robust analysis of module-level production and allows the installer to access unique performance characteristics that they can use to diagnose issues during and after the installation process.
Safety Compliance - Section 690.12 of the 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC 2020) requires all systems in the USA to have a module-level Rapid Shut Down (RSD) solution. Tigo MLPEs offers an automatic RSD solution that is enabled upon Discovery (via Network connection to Tigo's Cloud). After the Discovery has taken place, the system must remain in radio contact with the CCA and TAP, to initiate the RSD response. Blind Deployment (without Discovery), does not enable RSD and may not be compliant with regulations in your area.
Updates - Network connection is required, in order for Tigo Optimizer (TS4-A-O) systems to work in sync with the Tigo Cloud. Connected systems provide software updates, alerts and system notifications. They also offer the ability for remote assistance from Tigo's Customer Support Team.
Data - Tigo TS4-A-O/S/Ms all provide data to the cloud, which in turn shows up in your online Tigo Portal (and/or Tigo EI App). This data is crucial for understanding the performance and issues your system may be facing, and the historical data provided is used to confirm the system's eligibility under Tigo's Limited Warranty. (lack of supporting data may greatly limit coverage).
Note: Many of Tigo's original legacy systems were deployed without a network connection. If you have one of these early-adopter systems, Tigo will continue to support them for the remainder of their Original Warranty period.
