Discovery error code troubleshooting on the CC and MMU

During System Discovery which establishes the radio communication to the MLPE units, the discovery process may encounter an error. When that happens, an Error Code will be displayed on the MMU and CC (Cloud Connect) data logger screen.

Note: Before running a Discovery, run the Gateway Test.

 

Some of the error codes reflect problems with installation.

Discovery will not finish unless all errors are corrected. Once Discovery initiates, wait 5 minutes, it is not necessary to keep watching the Discovery process, which can take minutes to hours (for larger systems with many gateways).

 

Error Number Description
1 The number of Gateways that can communicate with the data logger does not match the amount specified on the Equipment page.
           Checks:                               
  • Verify that number of Gateways installed matches the amount entered on the Equipment page. If needed correct the number of Gateways installed.
  • If you configured your system using it's web page, you can view the number of gateways configured by using the Equipment page.
  • If you configured the system via the Tigo SMART App, click 'back' until you see a page asking how many modules and how many gateways.
  • If the numbers match but the error persists, check Gateway wiring and termination. 
2 Problem communicating with Gateway

  • The terminating resistor should be installed on the last Gateway in the chain
  • Older Gateways need to have the jumper set inside (last Gateway only)

  • Use proper cable: either Rs-485 or Ethernet. It must be a twisted pair, with at least 2 pairs.

11 Discovery incomplete - lost communication between Gateway and smart modules
 
  • Check proximity to modules, 50 feet radius recommended, 110 feet maximum for MESH
    • Check RSSI map via laptop or your Smart Phone to verify all units have RSSI of at least 80 (RSSI = Radio Signal Strength Indicator). If you see dark blue + grey area on your RSSI map it's a good indication that you should improve the GW position, or add an additional GW
  • Check Gateway wiring and termination
  • Ensure that all smart modules are powered on, and allow enough time for Discovery to complete before sunset

  • Verify that optimizer serial numbers were entered on the System Layout page
    • Go to 'My Installations' and under 'Pending Systems' find your site and press 'Configure'. Go to 'System Mapping' and make sure you have all the barcodes entered correctly; no typos or empty spaces. Also notice that MAC IDs must be exactly 16 characters long for Long Format, and contain only the digits 0-9 and uppercase letters A-F. Once done hit 'Save' and restart discovery on the CC using the Tigo SMART App or the LCD menu options: 2. control > 1. discovery.

  • Verify system configuration by using Layout Page to compare with barcode stickers pulled at installation
  • Long Format Serial numbers/MAC addresses must be exactly 16 digits and contain only the digits 0-9 and uppercase letters A-F, and there is no software error checking upon entry.
29 Optimizer bar code(s) entered incorrectly
