Create and Edit System - Using EI App (Mobile) Create and Edit System - Using EI Portal (Desktop) |
This article explains creating and editing a system using the EI mobile app. If your system includes 50 or more solar modules, you may find it easier to use the browser-based EI portal.
Sections:
Before starting, install the Tigo Energy Intelligence app on your cell or tablet. Open the Install Tigo Energy Intelligence (EI) App article for detailed instructions.
Create a New System
- Open the EI app.
- Tap the + symbol in the upper-right corner.
The app will check Bluetooth and Location permissions. - Tap NEXT after permissions are granted.
Enter Site Info
- On the New System screen, enter a System Name, a Planned Turn On Date, Advanced Options, and tap NEXT.
- Confirm the system address and tap CREATE->.
Select Equipment
Select Equipment screens configure the system with Tigo components and solar modules.
Add Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA):
- Press Select Equipment
- P ress the green bubble to add equipment
- Select Add to enter the new CCA information
- Select Cloud Connect Advanced - (CCA)
- Enter Name
Enter Serial, (or press SCAN button to open camera and scan CCA bar code)
Enter Number of TAPs for system
Tap the ADD button
Note: When using the SCAN function, select Allow to let the Tigo app access the device's camera. Position the device camera so the sticker fills the center screen (on the red scan line).
- Press SAVE to return to System Equipment
Important Notes:
-
For multiple CCA systems: Enter a unique name for each CCA, like a physical location (West Array) or what it manages (strings, inverter, etc). This can help future installers or site owners locate the correct CCA in the system.
- Number of TAPs: You must correctly enter the number of TAPs in the system; however, you do not need to enter their serial numbers. If the number of TAPs is incorrect, the Discovery will not proceed.
Add Inverters & PV Modules:
-
Tap the green bubble and choose Add
- Choose Inverter and PV Modules
-
Enter equipment
- Name the Inverter and add the inverter Manufacturer and Model.
- Add the PV Modules
- Add the Number of Strings per MPPT and the number of Modules per String
- Check Uneven Strings box if the length or number of modules per parallel string is unequal.
- Tap SAVE
- Tap the back arrow on the top left corner to return to System Equipment
Important Notes:
-
For multiple Inverter systems, Enter a unique name for each Inverter, such as its physical location (e.g., southwest roof) or what it manages (strings, inverter, etc.). This can help future installers or site owners identify the correct Inverter in the system.
-
Unlisted Inverter or PV Module: If the Make or Model is not available on the list, press the + sign at the top right corner to add a new item.
- Enter the Name and tap SAVE when complete.
Add Meters and Sensors (if applicable):
To add meters and sensors, see: How-To: Setup and Monitor Modbus Connected Devices including Inverters, Meters & Sensors.
Configure Layout
After you have completed System Equipment, tap the Back Arrow (upper left corner) to return to My System. The Select Equipment option will now show a green checkmark √.
- Select Configure Layout
- Layout shows an empty grid with a Toolbox (top) and an Equipment Selector (bottom)
The Equipment Selector symbols represent the items you will place on the grid. Select the correct symbol and tap on the grid to place the item.
When placing PV modules, tap, hold, and drag to place entire strings.
Once all of the equipment has been placed on the grid, select the Arrow Symbol (top left of the toolbox) and press-and-drag an item to move it:
Placing PV modules: the Tigo EI App linearly places items. After you place Module A1, the A2 Module will automatically be next (when pressing on the grid). Do this until all A string modules are placed, and then the B String modules will automatically be the next available item(s). Repeat until all modules from all strings are placed on the grid.
It is essential to place the modules on the Layout screen as they appear in the physical layout.
An accurate site map promotes a better understanding of shading effects on PV production, energy recovery, and overall system behavior. It also assists future maintenance activities that require the accurate physical location of Tigo MLPEs such as locating bad modules, faulty equipment, etc.
After all the PV modules have been placed, it is time to scan the TS4 serial numbers.
- Choose the Scan selection button (lower right)
- Tap a PV Module. The app will automatically zoom in to that location and offer the Module Entry Field at the bottom of the page.
- Tap the Module Entry Field to type the serial number, or press the Serial button to open the camera and scan the TS4 serial number label.
🏆 Pro Tip: The Serial button feature is the quickest way to add units. Simply press the Serial button to open the camera, and auto-scan each label as it is removed from the box or as you install them in sequence.
Newer TS4 versions use a serial QR code, but the process is the same.
After a serial number is entered (or scanned), the App will automatically proceed to the next PV Module in the string. You may change or delete a serial number by pressing on the desired PV Module, entering a new serial, or selecting the red trash icon .
After you have entered all the TS4 serial numbers, press the Back Arrow symbol (upper left corner) to return to My System. When complete, Configure Layout will show a Checkmark √.
This completes the Create and Edit System step of the commissioning process.
