MMU does not power on
Symptoms
- The LCD screen does not display information
- The MMU is unresponsive to buttons
- A dashed line remains on LCD for more than 2 minutes
Step 1: Check MMU Power Supply
- Verify the power supply is plugged into a working power source
- Verify the DC cable connector is plugged into the MMU
- Verify the MMU is running on the correct power supply (24 Volts DC)
- Verify the AC power supply is installed properly
Step 2: Check CAT5 Ethernet & RS-485 Gateway Cable
A possible wiring error may be causing the MMU to shut off.
- Unplug the Ethernet and RS-485 cables
- Reboot the MMU
Step 3: Recommend replacement with Tigo Access Point (TAP)
Since the MMU is no longer in service, the unit must be replaced with a TAP.
Replacing the MMU Power Supply
1. Open Cover:
- Insert a flathead screwdriver into the slot (at the base of the cover)
- Rotate the counter-clockwise 90 degrees to unlock
- Press Thumb Bar upward, and pull forward to swing the cover open
2. Access the barrel plug power supply as follows:
- Using a Phillips screwdriver unscrew and remove Access Panel on the lower face of MMU
- Pull Barrel plug power supply (down) from the connector on the left side of the board
3. Remove the cable by feeding it through the cable gland on the bottom of the enclosure:
- Remove gland cap by rotating counter-clockwise
- Push barrel plug power supply through gland opening
The gland's aperture may be too stiff to remove the old cable (or insert the replacement PS). Expand the aperture with a screwdriver or similar tool as shown below. This will not damage the unit or the cable.
4. Install the replacement power supply cable:
