This article gives a brief introduction to Tigo's Quick Start Guide for the TS4-R product. To access the full downloadable Quickstart Guide for this (or any other) Tigo device, please see our Technical Documentation.
Tigo Technology uses Mac (media access control) IDs for communication. The IDs act like a physical address for a piece of hardware. These long ID's are shortened to standardized serial numbers for your convenience.
For example:
- 04C05B400001XXX = Mac ID (long version)
- 4-1XXXS = Serial Number (short version)
The serial number of the MLPE unit can be found on the attached label:
These serial numbers must be entered into the Tigo System Layout, to specify which MLPEs are assigned to the system. This information is required for the confirmation and communication process. Without this, no communication is possible.
In addition to this, any time a unit is replaced the new serial number(s) must be entered before it can communicate.
To accomplish this, you must have an Installer-level account, and access to the system. If you do not have Installer access to a particular system, you may ask the System Owner to send an Installer request to the Tigo Support Team. They must include your Installer Account information (name and email address), and a general permission request, to gain access to their system.
Note: System Owner-level accounts are specifically prevented from accessing tools to modify their system or account. This means that they own the system, but do not have the ability to modify their system or change serial numbers.
Physical installation details are in the Quick Start Guide as shown below:
