This procedure describes how to replace a three-phase EI Link while retaining the original CCA component. Retaining the CCA lets you bypass re-commissioning the system and keeps all system data such as TAP/TS4 configuration intact.
To complete this procedure, you will:
- Turn Off All System Components
- Remove the Original CCA
- Disconnect and Remove the EI Link
- Mount and Connect the New EI Link
- Remove and Replace the CCA in the New EI Link
- Register the new EI Link in the EI App
After the procedure, you may power-up the system without any additional commissioning procedures.
1. Turn Off All System Components
To power off the system:
- Turn off the AC disconnect switch between the EI Inverter and the service entrance.
- Turn off the RCD and GRID (INV) breakers in the EI Link.
- Turn off the DC breaker on the left side of the EI Link.
- Shut down the BMS by pressing the BMS power button for 10 sec.
Ensure no battery module LEDs are lit. - Turn off the BMS DC breaker.
- Turn off any external DC breaker for PV conductors between the EI Link and the solar array.
2. Remove the Original CCA
- Open the EI Link cover and remove the protective baffle.
- Locate the CCA on the right side of the cabinet.
- Take a picture or note the CCA wire connections.
- Depress the DIN rail clip at the bottom of the CCA.
- Detach the CCA and disconnect the:
• Antenna cable at the top
• GW/TAP, RS-485 2, and POWER connector pins on the front (do not unscrew leads)
• Ethernet cable at the bottom - Keep the original CCA for installation in the replacement EI Link.
If possible, mark it to ensure you know that it is the CCA that will end up in the new EI Link.
3. Disconnect and Remove the EI Link
Some cables pass through the bottom of the EI Link cabinet while others connect to RJ-45 and Ethernet ports. All must be disconnected.
WARNING! Solar-array PV conductors may have high voltage. Turn off any external DC breaker and use extreme caution. |
- Disconnect the following conductors inside the cabinet and remove them through the bottom of the cabinet:
• PV (INV)
• PV
• EPS (INV)
• Load
• Grid (INV)
• Grid - Disconnect any cables connected to the E-Stop, COM, TAP, or Ethernet ports on the bottom of the cabinet.
- Disconnect earth cables at the upper-left corner of the cabinet.
- Remove the set screw on the bracket mounting and slide out the EI Link.
4. Mount and Connect the New EI Link
- Slide in the replacement EI Link and tighten the set screw.
- Connect earth cables at the upper-left corner of the cabinet.
- Pass the following conductors through the bottom of the cabinet and connect them to their respective terminals:
• PV (INV)
• PV
• EPS (INV)
• Load
• Grid (INV)
• Grid
WARNING!
Solar-array PV conductors may have high voltage. Turn off any external DC breaker and use extreme caution. - Reconnect any cables going to the E-Stop, COM, TAP, or Ethernet ports on the bottom of the cabinet.
5. Remove and Replace the CCA in the New EI Link
In this procedure, you will remove the CCA from the new EI Link and replace it with the original CCA.
- Depress the DIN rail clip at the bottom of the CCA.
- Detach the CCA and disconnect the:
• Antenna cable at the top
• GW/TAP, RS-485 2, and POWER connector pins on the front (do not unscrew leads)
• Ethernet cable at the bottom - Remove the CCA.
- Attach the original CCA removed in step 2 to the DIN rail.
- Reinstall the baffle and close the EI Link cover.
- If using WiFi, screw the CCA antenna (located in the Accessories bag) into the EI Link.
6. Register the New EI Link in the EI App
Within Bluetooth range of the EI Link, open the EI mobile app.
- Tap the appropriate system Installation and tap the settings gear icon.
- Tap Edit System > Select Equipment > View Details > Setup > Batteries & Meters > EI Link.
- Tap SCAN BARCODE and scan the new EI Link barcode located on the right side of the cabinet.
- Tap SAVE BARCODE and CLOSE.
