Rapid Shutdown
I have 48 older Tigo TS4-R-O on older SMA Sunny Boy inverters (grid-tied). I've decided to renew my solar system but go off-grid with a different inverter brand. Is there a way to keep my Tigos live without connection to a grid-tie inverter? S. Dixon

Hello S. Dixon,
Since the Tigo System is only reporting the DC production at the panels, you can change out your inverter and still keep the data coming from your Tigo System.0 -
My Tigo units (TS4-R-O) are activated by an emitter that is powered by the inverters (older SMA Sunnyboys). Now that I am eliminating the older inverters, that means that the emitter won't be powered any more and that means that the Tigos will shut off all my PV panels. If I can't power the emitter external to the inverter, then my panels are dead to the newly planned off-grid system. So I wondered if there is a way to power the emitter without connecting it to any inverter? Or am I missing something fundamental here? S. Dixon

If your system is older, you may have an SMA Rooftop Kit Phase 2. These were run by an internal SMA card called the Gateway Interface Board (GIB). If you are changing the inverter, you can update the system to work with a standard Tigo CCA (to replace the GIB).
When you are ready to do so, please contact our Support Team and they will be happy to help you initiate your new CCA!Tigo Support
