Is the rapid shutdown product (TS4-A-F) more robust than the optimizer product (TS4-A-O)?

I don't know if "robust" is the right word. The decision to use the TS4-A-F over the TS4-A-O should be based on the project application. Since rapid shutdown is mandatory in the US for all rooftop installs, then it boils down to whether the customer wants to optimize the system and enjoy all the benefits of module level monitoring (TS4-A-O), or if a rapid shutdown only (without optimization and monitoring) is the goal.

    Hello tigo.nabcep,

The input specifications vary slightly depending on the TS4-A-F and TS4-A-O models in question, and it is worth noting the TS4-A-F's Operating Temperature Range is -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F) while the TS4-A-O's Operating Temperature Range is -40°C to +70°C (-40°F to +158°F). Considering this information I suppose you could say the TS4-A-F is more robust, however both the TS4-A-F and TS4-A-O come with a 25 year warranty and can be used at up to 2000 meters in elevation.

Greg Smith is certainly right when he said, “the decision to use the TS4-A-F over the TS4-A-O should be based on the project application”, as the TS4-A-Fs only feature is RSD, while our TS4-A-O can perform RSD, module-level monitoring, and power optimization. Also, the TS4-A-O can be mixed with our TS4-A-S in what we call selective deployment, and both use our Tigo Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA) and Tigo Access Point (TAP) for both monitoring each TS4 and initiating RSD. Our TS4-A-Fs can only be mixed with our TS4-A-2Fs, and both use our RSS Transmitter for initiating RSD.

The image below illustrates this clearly:

I hope this information gives you some insight into the differences between our TS4-A-F and TS4-A-O, and into the factors you ought to consider when choosing between these two significantly different products. I think I answered your question, but please let me know if any additional information or assistance would be helpful.

    Wishing you sunny days,

    Aleks R.
