Why I put Tigo on my home
I had Tigo retrofitted to my modules. The original install was just the standard. Back in 2014 175w was all the go. How times have changed.... Anyway there was an issue and my warranty claim was very painful to resolve.
After a great deal of learning I decided to pay to have an installer come and fit the TS4 optimisers to all of the modules. Back then this also required the use of the MMU hard wired to my router. So, the poor chap had to run a cable. Thank heavens for Wi fi - so much easier these days.
The reason for the retrofit were three fold. I have some shade from neighbouring trees. Which had been increasing overtime. Covering more panels. Also a chimney. I had also experienced some cell cracking due to hail and wanted to keep an eye on the module performance. Needless to say I was also concerned that overtime my system would develop faults, loose production and maybe become dangerous. And finally I really wanted to have data to support any warranty claims I may have in the future.
The Tigo's have been my roof top buddy. Working quietly away in the background. It's been great to know that the house and anyone attending the roof are protected via the Rapid Shut down feature. Also, recently my inverter died. The Tigo monitoring system, sent me an email to alert me to the fact. This enabled me to get right onto getting a replacement. That saved me heaps as I probably would not have picked up the loss until the next bill arrived.
Another great benefit is my system has been recovering energy from the shade issue. My Monthly report shows exactly how much has been recovered. To date a little over $1,200 worth of power.
Am I a fan? Yep... Big time.
