    Hello Lloyd MacKinnon,

Thank you for your contribution to the Tigo Community!

The Tigo ATS is required for sensing grid loss and safely switching from grid + solar/ battery to solar/battery only. Without this, the behavior of the system may be unexpected.

I see that you have opened a ticket with the Tigo Support Team. Please continue to work with them on finding the correct resolution for your system's production design. Once the issue has been corrected, feel free to share the steps you have taken, within this post.

    Curtis,

Could you advise if an ATS is required for my system?  It seems as if after the battery was installed my PV dropped and the battery is only putting out 30-60 watts in the overnight only using 6-7 %

    Hi Lloyd,

An ATS is required for any battery system that intends to operate in a backup mode when the grid goes down. If you are using the battery for grid-up Tme Of Use applications, then you will need to set the time windows that the battery will discharge. For example, in my area, the high peak time window is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. In the EI App I would set this window to 5-9 for the battery to discharge.

This Help Center article discusses the operating modes of our system.

Adding an ATS does not influence PV production in the way you describe, so there must be something else going on. Our support take can assist you with this.

Ok, that self-consumption mode might explain it. If you do not have a lot of things running at night, then the batteries won't need to discharge. That is a really good base load. Mine is around 350W when everyone is asleep!

Self consumption aims to use your own solar and storage as much as possible to conceal you from the grid. Time of Use serves as a focused self consumption for the hours you want to cover with your battery. You can charge the batteries with just solar or sip off the grid to recharge them if necessary. You will need to select GRID CHARGE on your EI App under the battery settings.

Let us know how it goes!

    Hello Lloyd MacKinnon,

I can see that the last reply you received was on Friday afternoon, and the last question you asked was on Saturday.

Unfortunately, the Engineers do not work over the weekend, and It may take a full business day for the Engineer to get back to you. In the meantime, we greatly appreciate your patience and encourage you to work directly with the Engineer to resolve any issues your system may be experiencing.

Once you have both come to a resolution, please share the results on this thread so others can learn what steps were taken to achieve a successful outcome.

My system is still not working, I am getting a run around about some meter that is shipping from Tigo to my installer but,,,,yes you guessed it ,,,,,still not here. 9/21/23 the battery was installed and the light is still blinking red and the system is making 30-40 watts if that. The Battery is providing .5 to 1 watt =(

    Hello Lloyd MacKinnon,

    Thank you for your replies.

The Tigo EI System you have purchased does not have a Meter, so it is not capturing the data that you are expecting.

Please continue to work with the Tigo Engineer that you have an open ticket with. They will assist in finding a solution for you. Once you have resolved the issue, please feel free to post the results in this conversation.

Capturing data? I'm not making any power since the install it only makes power in 1 hour period around 9:00 a.m. and then the system shuts down it's been going on for 3 weeks and I've gotten no help

I shouldn't say it doesn't make any power but with direct sun I'm putting 30 to 40 watts into my house

    Hello Lloyd MacKinnon,

    Thank you for your reply.

The shortened production schedule may be linked to an unknown design issue. I suspect that the Tigo Engineers have been working with your Installer to find out what they will need to rectify this. Have you contacted your Installer recently? They may have more information available...

Please contact your installer and continue working with Tigo Support, as they will both continue working toward a resolution.

Yes and I'm waiting on a part and it seems like Tyga cannot get the part to My distributor I have requested the part be overnighted to me and I'm waiting.

This has been the absolute worst customer service I've experienced in a long time especially on the large sum of money I spent for the system and it is still not working correctly and when I mean not working correctly it is not generating power!

Can someone please help me can you get a manager or somebody in charge of supervisor someone to look at my ticket this help for them and get this rectified both myself and the installer keep hitting dead ends with Tigo.

I would like to get this rectified as soon as possible as I plan on telling my story on Reddit r/solar

Looks like this boils down to the installer not knowing how to design or install the Tigo battery system. I have not had your experience with Tigo's customer service. Curtis already explained why your system is not working as intended- your installer did not put the meter in the system as he should have.

Did your installer talk to Tigo or submit your planet to the Tigo engineers? It is free. A manager is not going to be able to speed up shipping. Is the meter going to you to your installer? Have you talked to your installer? I don't know the details, but based on this post, it looks like your installer dropped the ball, not Tigo.

When my installer can't get a meter for 2 week I pointed the finger at them. The distributor did not have it and we're waiting for Tigo.
But ! I reached out to tygo and they were going to send me one ASAP...*Kyle is great customer service guy!

The meter is now installed... What should the battery discharge look like for my house. I thought I would be running the battery down past 80% . Can anyone share their numbers/usage ?
