Why does my system view on the Tigo portal have greyed out modules?
-
A gray module means no data was received from the optimizer associated with that module, for that time increment. If the entire system goes gray or a large portion does, it is usually related to the GW or CCA. For example, the CCA lost power or internet connection (router was unplugged or replaced). If only a few modules are grey then the issue might be the module itself, could be the optimizer, or sometimes the wiring between the two.

Would a grey module necessarily mean it does not supply power or could it be getting the RSS signal, but just isn't delivering health data?

A gray module only means "no data" -- the MMU/CC/CCA is not receiving any data for that unit. During that period of no data, we are "blind", so no way to tell for sure what the panel/module is doing. Most likely, the module is producing power, since the most common cause of "no data" is communication failure. This is particularly true if the "no data" condition comes and goes. If it persists, it *may* mean the module electronics unit (MM-ES, TS4, etc) has a problem or is damaged. But, it can also mean the communication is poor enough that we never hear from that unit. Hope this helps!

Thanks - comparing the production data from Tigo monitoring with the inverter confirms the modules have been producing power.
