Can I use MC-4 Y with the Tigo optimizers?

Hello Si. Thank you for your question! Can you give us the use case for the Y connectors and how you plan on using them?

Hello Greg, I am looking at running 2 strings for a Sol-Ark inverter. I would like to run 1- string of 5 optimizers and 1- string of 6 optimizers and run them into a MC-4 Y connector so I have one set of wires coming down from the roof. Do they need to be an even number for this to work?
Thanks Si

Ok, that is helpful, Si. You can use the TS4-A-O optimizer product in an application with uneven parallel strings, however we do have some additional considerations laid out in our Help Center article on the subject.
Although each module is optimized on the string, connecting the strings to a Y connector to a single MPPT may not be the most efficient use of the array. The IV curve for that dual string into a single MPPT will show a lot of variation and may confuse the inverter to track the lower peaks instead of the global peak. This may only cause a small percentage of loss so it that is acceptable then go for it.
Also, can the Sol-Ark handle that much current from 11 modules? You did not specify the module make and model, but that is a beefy inverter so I assume that it can.

Thanks Greg, I will look at the help center info.
We are using the 12K Sol-Ark with Q-cell 400w modules. We do have one setup with 20- 320w mudules on a sol-ark 12K.
Thanks for the info.
