TS4-A-F wiring help
Hello
- I have a wiring question. I have two rows of 8 pv panels hooked up in series, I used 4 TS4-A-F in each row. I combined the two + wires and the two - wires from each row on the roof then ran just 2 wires to my inverter 100 feet away . my rss transmitter is at the inverter.
- Is this correct?
- and can I run 3 more of the same thing from one transmitter??
- Thanks Ron

Dear Ron,
Thanks for contributing to our community!
Your first part of the set-up is correct. For the second part you would need to follow our guidelines (click on this link ), in particular once the RSS transmitter is installed to the core, you need to insert both strings in the toroid. Note that must be chosen only one string polarity at your choice (+ or -) .
This picture below can help you understanding this installation,

ok, so only half of my panels are working still not clear if rss transmitter will reach the ts4-a-f when two strings 8 panels are paralleled

Hi Ron, if only half the array is working, I assume you mean only one string out of two and not half the modules on one string? Please check the following:
The negative conductor for each string of modules passes through the RSS Core, as shown above. If you run a positive and negative conductor through the Core, the system will show abnormal behavior.
Also, the Core must have the proper orientation to the PV Inverter. The white side of the Core must face toward the inverter.
You can run up to 10 strings in one Core from the same RSS transmitter. This is not a problem for residential systems.
Lastly, the Core leads must be inserted into the correct terminals- white pin to the white terminal and the black pin to the black terminal.0 -
Thanks for the info
Yes i do mean only one string. I have everything as you described above less the core orientation. I need to check that. I ask tec support that very question and was told there is no difference. I hope that it is that simple i will check it out as soon as i get home.
Thanks again Ron

So my core is facing the correct way.
still only half the string working. i am going to move the core closer to the panels this weekend see if this will get them all fired up. the distance is about 50 foot of wire from inverter to panels .

Hello Robert,
Sometimes the best approach is separate the 2 strings and wire them independently to the inverter.- Wire string A to inverter (without string B), see if inverter starts
- Wire string B to inverter (without string A), see if inverter starts
If both work independently (when not in parallel), then you can confirm that the issue is somewhere in the combining of the 2 strings. Check your parallel locations to make sure that they are wired correctly, and there's a circuit being made. You may have a combiner or connector that has simply gone kaput!
Please feel free to reach out to Customer Support with your findings, to let us know if you were able to confirm the source of the issue.0
