How to Identify a Tigo Data Logger
There are three Tigo Data Loggers:
Cloud Connect (Legacy) |
MMU (Legacy) |
|
|
|
The CCA (cloud connect advanced) is the modern Tigo Data Logger. If you are replacing a Legacy Data Logger, you will (most likely) be installing a new CCA.
Note: A new CCA can work with the existing Gateway(s). However, replacing the Gateway with a new TAP (Tigo Access Point) can add more functionality to the system.
Changing the Serial Number
Changing of the Serial Number requires an Installer's Status account with access granted to the system. Those with access can make the changes online, or within the Tigo EI App. The first step in this process would be to change the old Data Logger's serial number to represent the new CCA:
-
-
Directions for Tigo EI App:
- Go to the system page and click the Settings Cog
(bottom right)
- Choose Edit System
- Press Select Equipment
- Select View Details button (under the CCA section)
- Choose Edit button
- Type in the new Serial Number or press the Scan button to use your camera
- Go to the system page and click the Settings Cog
-
Directions for Online/Web Portal:
- Go to the system's page and click Edit > Equipment (left panel)
- Click the Edit button under Cloud Connect Advanced (CCAs) section (right side)
- In pop-up window, enter the new CCA serial number
- Click Update
-
Replacing the Data Logger
Powering down your system is required for CCA replacement. This means that you will not be producing during this period. For this reason, Tigo suggests performing the change during the evening or early morning.
Directions for removing an MMU:
- Open cover by inserting flathead screwdriver into keyhole at bottom of bezel (in front)
- Turn until key-slot is horizontal (flat) and pull up on release bar (below key-slot)
- Remove the two screws on the access panel of the MMU (lower face)
-
Open Cover by lifting from the bottom
-
Disconnect all cables to the MMU:
- Power cable (left)
- Ethernet cable (middle, from bottom of unit)
- Gateway cable (right)
- Gateway terminal block can be removed (gently pull from board).
This makes it easier to loosen the terminal screws. - Note: Photograph or make note of the Gateway +- | AB connections (including wire colors), so that the new CCA can be installed, without needing to modify the wiring at the Gateway.
- Gateway terminal block can be removed (gently pull from board).
Directions for removing a Cloud Connect:
- (If the Cloud Connect is in a Tigo Enclosure) Open cover by inserting flathead screwdriver into keyhole at bottom of bezel (in front)
- Turn until key-slot is horizontal (flat) and pull up on release bar (below key-slot)
-
Disconnect all cables to the Cloud Connect:
- Ethernet cable (top right)
- Power cable (bottom right)
- Gateway cable (bottom right)
- Gateway terminal block can be removed (gently pull from board).
This makes it easier to loosen the terminal screws. - Note: Photograph or make note of the Gateway +- | AB connections (including wire colors), so that the new CCA can be installed, without needing to modify the wiring at the Gateway.
- Gateway terminal block can be removed (gently pull from board).
- Depress the DIN-Rail mount bracket button (top rear of device) and pull device out
Installing New CCA in Enclosure
Once you have removed the original Data Logger from the Tigo Enclosure, mounting the new CCA should be very easy. For specific instructions on installing and mounting the new CCA, see our Quickstart Guide for CCA and TAP.
- Install a 7-1/2" long piece of DIN Rail
- Cut the cable tie on the Ethernet cable
- Attach the CCA to the Din rail
- Reconnect the cables:
- Gateway cable (following original +- | AB color scheme)
- Ethernet
- Power - The 24 VDC 1 Amp output power supplies are interchangeable across all three Tigo data loggers. If you are using the original MMU power supply with the new CCA, simply cut the barrel tip off, and separate the positive and negative leads.
Note: If you do not want to use the original MMU-style enclosure, there is a new Enclosure available, provided with the Tigo Outdoor Communications Kit. You may also choose to use a third-party enclosure, as long as it's rated appropriately for outdoor usage (weather conditions, etc).
Discovery of new CCA
If you have already taken the steps to change the Serial Number (on the online Tigo Portal or Tigo EI App), the new Tigo CCA will be recognized by the Tigo Servers and it will receive the necessary download of the Discovery file, upon connection to your Network (please allow 15 minutes for download/install). For more info: Configured Communication (Network and Start Discovery).
Once this download is complete, the CCA should automatically start the Discovery process upon the next power-cycle (or next morning restart). If there is no Discovery response, or you find difficulty in connecting the CCA to the Network, please Contact Tigo Support for assistance.
A Tigo Agent will be able to assist in troubleshooting any network issue, and can initiate a remote Discovery command, if necessary.
