Overview
Whenever a Tigo Data Logger (CCA) is replaced, it's Serial Number must be updated within the EI Portal, in order for a new system discovery to take place.
There are two methods available to update the serial number:
- Web Browser Method
- EI App Method
Note: After updating the Data Logger's serial number, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes for the system to start receiving new data from the MLPEs. However, some systems may take up to 24 hours. For this reason, please allow up to 24 hours before Contacting Support for assistance.
Account Permission
Changing out serial numbers requires an Installer Level account. The System Owner accounts do not have access to Installer tools, as they can cause critical system modifications that may not be reversible (if misused).
If you are a System Owner:
Contact the Installer of your system to request modification. If you do not currently have an installer, you may Contact Tigo Support and specify the following:
- System Name and Street Address (or System ID)
- Old PV module location and MLPE serial number
- New serial number for replacement
If you are a new installer:

🏆 Pro Tip: All Tigo Systems have a unique identifier. Knowing this ID can speed things up, when seeking assistance from Tigo Support. Here's how to find it.
-
On Desktop Computer - Go to the System's page and look at the end of the URL link, that is displayed in the address bar of the browser.
For example: https://ei.tigoenergy.com/build/system/layout?sysid=<xxxxx>
-
On the EI App - Exit system by tapping the back arrow (top left). Use the search function to find system and the System ID will show on the right side, of the results:
Web Browser Method
- Sign into Installer Level account at Tigo Energy
- Select the system from list, to go to it's Overview page
- Click Edit header (left side menu)
- Select Equipment sub-header in pop out menu
- Click the Edit button on the Cloud Connect Advanced (CCAs) line item
- An Edit Cloud Connect Advanced window will pop up (click the field to modify)
- Click Save when finished
Once you have updated the system with a new valid serial number, the Equipment page will automatically prepare a notification to go out to the new Data Logger (as soon as it has been connected to the network).
For directions on how to connect to the network, go to:
Configure Communication (Network and Start Discovery)
Serial Numbers that include Typos or Duplicates may prompt an error notification. Double check the serial spelling and review the system to insure that the serial has not already been deployed as another Data Logger.
EI App Method

- Search for system on the Installations page
- Touch system to select
- Press Settings icon (bottom right)
