One of the features of the TS4-O optimizer is PIV (Predictive IV). PIV means that the TS4 units can do full optimization independently without communication. PIV is just one of many features of the TS4 that give you the ultimate in flexibility.
This means you can install TS4-A-O units or optimizing Smart Modules without using a Cloud Connect Advanced datalogger or TAP, and Tigo optimizers will maximize your per panel energy production all by themselves.
You don't need to install or configure a TAP (gateway) or Cloud Connect Advanced, or have Internet service - perfect for Off Grid systems. And there is no need (or ability) to do any online configuration or have a user account with Tigo since there will be no web page to view the optimizer production, i.e. it will be a un-monitored system.

If you do not install Tigo communication equipment with Internet service, you will not be able to see module level power reports. You also will not be able to have the Safety features, such as rapid shutdown panel level disconnect - unless temporary Internet service is provide to a Cloud Connect Advanced, which is then installed along with at least 1 TAP. If you are doing a retrofit, however, you should see the production improvement in your system on shaded panels, by using the Inverter production data reports.
How-To Install and hook-up Basics
WARNING: When installing TS4-A or TS4-A-Duo, connect the input cables to the PV module before connecting any of the TS4-A output cables. Connect all units to their PV Modules before connecting any output cables to form strings. Failure to use this sequence may damage the Tigo units - unless it is dark out. A good procedure is to install Tigo units and connect the inputs to the PV module while panels are indoors, such as in a warehouse or garage.
When disconnecting TS4-A or TS4-A-Duo, after ensuring the Inverter/Charge Controller is powered OFF, or DC Disconnect switch is in the OFF position (so there is no current flowing in the string) - disconnect the TS4-A output cables from the string before disconnecting the input cables from the PV module.
Failure to adhere to the above installation steps, in the above sequence can damage the product and will violate warranty.
This can also be done with Smart Modules. Smart Modules are PV modules sold with Tigo optimizers already installed at the factory. In this case there is no connection sequence to be done, since they will be powered by the panel inherently. Install the modules as you would without MLPE devices. The PIV power optimization feature will work without any additional equipment or configuration. Smart Modules must have the optimizing feature of the TS4 for optimization for shade mitigation to work.
