One of the features of the TS4-O optimizer is PIV (Predictive IV). PIV means that the TS4 units can do full optimization independently without communication. See this article for details. This means you can install TS4-A-O units or optimizing Smart Modules without any additional equipment or configuration and they will maximize your energy production all by themselves.
You only need to install the TS4-A-O units or Smart Modules as indicated in our Installation Manual and Installation Training Video. You don't need to install or configure a Gateway or Cloud Connect. You don't need to do any online configuration or registration with Tigo.
When installing TS4-A or TS4-A-Duo, connect the input cables to the PV module before connecting the TS4-A output cables in series.
If disconnecting TS4-A or TS4-A-Duo, disconnect the TS4-A output cables from the string before disconnecting the input cables from the PV module.
Failure to adhere to the above installation steps in the above sequence can damage the product and will violate warranty.
This can also be done with Smart Modules. Smart Modules are solar modules sold with Tigo optimizers already installed at the factory. In this case there is nothing extra that needs to be done. Install the modules as you would any other, and the power optimization (PIV) will work without any additional equipment or configuration. Smart Modules must have the optimizing feature of the TS4 for this to work.
If you do not install Tigo communication equipment, you will not be able to see module level monitoring. You will also not be able to use the Safety features of the TS4. If you are doing a retrofit, however, you should see the production difference in your system level monitoring.
PIV is just one of many features of the TS4 that give you the ultimate in flexibility. PIV and Selective Deployment allow you to make the most of your solar installation at minimal cost.
