If your system is 50 units or more, it is recommended you Create and Edit System - Using the EI Portal (Desktop), instead of the EI App.
Create and Edit System (Using EI App)
1. Watch Setup and Monitor (Video)
The video below walks you through the process of creating and editing a Tigo system using the Tigo Energy Intelligence (EI) App.
Note: The video refers to installations.tigoenergy.com. Tigo has renamed the EI portal to ei.tigoenergy.com.
2. Create a New System
a. Open the Tigo Energy Intelligence App on your cell or tablet. For installation instructions, see Install Tigo Energy Intelligence (EI) App.
b. Start a new system build by pressing the + symbol (top right):
Note: To service or monitor an existing system, simply press any system (in the list).
3. Enter Site Info
Enter the system site info.
a. Fill in the relevant information.
b. Select NEXT.
c. Search System Address or find system on map.
d. Once completed, select CREATE to confirm.
e. If the System Info is valid, it will show a Checkmark √
f. Press System Info to confirm accuracy or add any additional site information.
g. Select the symbol, just to the left of System Info (top of page) to return to My System
4. Select Equipment
Press Select Equipment to set the Inverter, CCA, PV module, and MLPE information.
First Add Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA)
a. Press the + bubble to add equipment, and choose Add
b. Select Cloud Connect Advanced - (CCA).
c. Enter the CCA Name.
For multiple CCA systems, enter a unique name for each CCA, like a physical location (Garage) or a name that indicates the strings it manages, or which inverter the strings are attached to. This can help future installers or site owners locate the correct CCA in the system.
c. Type in the CCA Serial field or SCAN the CCA bar code.
Note: When using the SCAN function, select Allow to let the Tigo app access the device's camera. Position the device camera, so that the sticker fills the center screen (on red scan line).
d. Specify the Number of TAPs wired to the CCA. It is important to set the correct number of TAPs connected to the CCA. The Serial Numbers for the TAPs is not needed, as the TAPs automatically communicate (via wiring) with the CCA. However, the number of TAPs associated with a CCA must be entered in correctly, in order for the discovery process to proceed.
e. Press SAVE to return to My System
Add the Inverters & PV Modules
a. Select the + bubble again to add the next piece of equipment, and choose Add
b. Choose Inverter and PV Modules.
c. Add the manufacturer and model of your Inverter and PV Modules.
For multiple inverter systems, give one a meaningful name to each addition, including a physical location or design position (ie., southwest roof), as it can be useful in identifying the correct inverter, at a later time.
If the make or model of item is not available on the list, press the + sign at the top right corner to add a new item. This New Equipment item will be private to this system (only), until it has been verified by Tigo Staff.
d. Add the Number of Strings (associated per MPPT) and how many Panels per String.
Set the Number of Strings and the number of Panels per String by their appropriate Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT). Check the Uneven Strings box if the length or number of panels on multiple parallel strings (per MPPT) is not equal.
e. Press Save to return to My System
Meters and Sensors
To add meters and sensors, see: How-To: Setup and Monitor Modbus Connected Devices including Inverters, Meters & Sensors.
After you have completed the Equipment list, select the symbol in the upper left corner to return to My System. When complete, Select Equipment will show a Checkmark √.
Proceed to the Layout section.
5. Configure Layout
a. Select Configure Layout to map the equipment items on a grid.
b. The symbols at the bottom of the screen, represent the items that you will be placing on your grid. Choose the correct symbol and then press on the grid to place the item.
c. Select the Arrow Symbol (top left toolbox) to move the item to the correct location:
Note: When placing PV modules, the Tigo EI App places items in a linear fashion. After you place label A1, the A2 item will automatically be next when pressing on the grid. Do this until all A string modules are placed, and then the B String modules will automatically be the next available item(s). Repeat until all modules from all strings are placed on grid.
It is essential to place the modules on the Layout screen as they appear in the physical layout.
An accurate site map enables understanding of shading effects on production and energy recovery. This also assists future maintenance activities requiring accurate physical location of Tigo MLPE's.
d. After all the PV modules have been placed, enter or scan the serial numbers for all of the Tigo MLPE units.
Choose the Scan selection button (lower right), and then press on the PV Module that you wish to type the serial number or scan. The app will automatically zoom in to that location and offer the serial number entry at the bottom of the page for you to type or scan (see tip below).
After the serial number is entered or scanned, the App will automatically select the next PV Module.
You may change or delete a serial number by selecting the desired PV Module, and entering a new serial or pressing on the red trash icon .
Tip: The Scan Button feature (bottom right) is a quick way to add units, while on the job site.
Simply press the Scan button to open the camera, and you can auto-scan each label as they come out of the box, or as you have them racked in sequence.
After you have entered all the MLPE serial numbers, select the symbol in the upper left corner to return to My System. When complete, Configure Layout will show a Checkmark √.
This completes the Create and Edit System step of the commissioning process.
