Hi Gary, thank you for the question! The Tigo EI Inverter is compatible with those existing workhorse maximizers. Since the Tigo Inverter has a built-in CCA, you would not need the MMU. Recommission the system using the EI App and you are good to go!

Here is a Help Center article that explains it: Replacing an MMU with a CCA

Greg, thanks for the lightning quick response!  That's great news I can use with my existing Tigo components.

Another question.  I've seen conflicting information on if the EI inverter includes the revenue grade meter or not?

Yes, this can be a bit confusing when you look at our manuals. The EI Inverter has RGM sensors, so when you view its data on our EI Portal, the value you see is within 1% accuracy,

However, when people ask about RGM, they usually refer to an external consumption meter used for solar incentives and rebates gathered from exported PV to the grid. If this is your application, you must use our Energy Meter and clamp the included 200A CTs around the main service entrance conductors. This data is also sent to our Portal and visualized.

One more question.  I see that the Tigo inverter has the RSS transmitter built in  (besides the CCA).  Does the RSS transmitter work with the MM-ES Maximizers?  I know you said everything is compatible my legacy equipment but I just want to make sure.

    Hello Gary Nagaoka

    Thank you for your reply.

The MM-ES Maximizers rely on a Data Logger (MMU, Cloud Connect or CCA), in order to function. A CCA can be found within our new EI Inverters, and the MM series will work with it.

Tigo's RSS Transmitter is specially designed for the TS4-F (fire safety) non-monitoring MLPEs. The MM-ES units will NOT function with this approach as they require a radio signal from a Data Logger.

If you have any additional questions or need assistance changing your system over to the new Tigo Inverter, you may always contact our Support Team. One of our highly trained engineers can assist you with the system migration from the MMU to the new internal CCA.

Gary, did the CCA discovery the old MM-ES maximizers on the first try?

    Gerald,

It'd not deployed yet.  Have you had issues with this?

I had issues with discovery with the MM-ES 60 but the MM-ES 50 would discovery. In the end, tigo support had to add them for me. The system worked fine after they added them.

    Hello Gerard Marquez

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes, some of the older series MM-ES60s and MM-ES50s can be a little finicky. With that being said, I'm happy to hear that you were able to discover them all with the Support Team's assistance!
