Hi Michael, and thank you for this question. We do get this one a lot. Every Tigo product with communication must have a strong, stable internet connection for commissioning to begin. Which product are you specking in? You can contact our Customer Success team for more help.

The site builder can be anything- for years, installers used a piece of cardboard. When we launched our EI storage solution, we created a site layout sheet on the back page of the EI Inverter quick start guide. Follow this LINK to download the EI Inverter quick start guide.

Thanks Greg, My designer (Signature Solar)  is only using Tigo's panels rapid shut-down's and Tigo's Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA) Tap module (..only one with 2 strings...is that sufficient?) and Power Supply with transmitter module.

The Inverters and batteries are EG4's. (2 for a 220 volt out circuit)

With this setup, I am staying "off grid" and without any internet aside from my phone hot spot capabilities. Do you foresee any potential issues?

I was just in TX not too long ago and trained up the Signature Solar people. You are in good hands with them!

It seems there may be some confusion with communication product selection. The CCA and TAP are used with the TS4-A-O/-S models- the CCA requires internet to commission. The RSS Transmitter is used with the TS4-A-F and -2F but does need internet.

If your hotspot is strong, you should be able to commission the CCA.

    (10) TS4-A-S rapid shutdown modules on 2 different strings with 5 panels. (Metal roof) Sorry, I left this info off in my last message.

Sill wondering if only one TAP module with 2 strings of 5 panels will be sufficient. I was planning to call Signature with this question or perhaps you can shed some light on the concern I have. I don't understand how I will connect the TAP module despite having the "Tigo Installation Manual TS4-A with TAP".

    1) I am concerned with the -4 degrees F temp limitation of the one TAP module I have currently. The Manual mentions placing this (Page 6) within 33' of a TS4 unit. If that is the case I can place my TAP(S) inside the heated space instead of outside attached to a panel, correct?

    2) If I am understanding the Manual I have mentioned correctly, only one TAP module is required despite having 2 strings of panels going to 2 different inverters. Is this correct?

    3) Can you provide a better diagram than the Manual has, I cannot grasp p.16 "CCA and TAP wiring. Nor can I figure out where to get the wiring as shown. Thanks in advance.

Hi Michael, this is getting too in-depth for this forum. I recommend that you contact either Signature Solar or our Customer Success team.

I highly recommend that you take our TS4 Design and Installation course. It sounds like you can really benefit from it. Since your application is off-grid, with little room for error, you would have a more bulletproof and worry-free system.

    Greg,

I tried listening to the Design and Install course but unfortunately it registers as TMI (Too Much Info) for the simple answers I am seeking. I did get a better understanding of the TAP module wiring. A simple RS-485 cable is all that is required. (Another question for Signature as to why my order did not include that) Questions 1 and 2 are still up in the air but hopefully they can figure it out. Thanks for the contact info regarding Customer Service. I didn't realize they existed!

Yes, I totally get the TMI aspect. I started learning 3D drawing with Blender and it gets deep way to fast!

We have many articles in our Help Center that also talk about the CCA and TAP. This article shows a diagram of the interconnection. Ensure the wires from left to right on the TAP match the same as on the CCA. Easy peasy.

We also provide an RS-485 cable reference if you plan on running that cable in the same conduit as the array homeruns.
